What is Gardasil?

A vaccine used for the prevention of cervical cancer as it contains the human papillomavirus Vaccine, which causes tumors in the reproductive system, mainly cervical cancer.

Gardasil indications

Gardasil is used to prevent the following diseases:

  • Cervical, vaginal, vulval, anal, oropharyngeal, and other head and neck cancers caused by HPV.

  • Precancerous lesions of the cervix, vagina, vulva, or anus, caused by human papillomavirus.

  • Genital warts caused by HPV 6 and 11.

Dosage and method of use

  • Gardasil is used only as an intramuscular injection.

  • Gardasil needle contains only 0.5ml.

  • Dosage of 9 - 14 years of age: 2 doses (0,6 months), or 3 doses (0,2,6 months).

  • Dosage from age 15 - 45 years: 3 doses (0,2,6 months).

  • If the patient receives the second dose 5 months earlier after the first dose, the third dose can be administered at least 4 months after the second dose.

Gardasil Side Effects

  • Pain or swelling at the injection site.

  • headache.

Gardasil contraindication

Gardasil is not used in case of sensitivity to its ingredients.

Warnings and precautions

  • The vaccine may sometimes cause syncope, so the patient should be kept under observation for 15 minutes after getting the Gardasil vaccine.

  • Involuntary movements or convulsions may occur after getting the vaccine along with syncope, but this is temporary.

Preservation and Storage

  • Keep away from light.

  • Don't freeze.

  • Keep at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.

  • Used as soon as possible after being taken out of the refrigerator.
