Minirin ingredients

Minirin contains desmopressin a hormone analog of vasopressin that is secreted from pituitary gland, which helps prevent urination.

Minerin Melt indications

Minerin Melt is used in:

  • Treatment of diabetes insipidus.

  • Treatment of primary nocturnal enuresis in patients who retain a normal ability to concentrate urine, from age 5 onwards.

  • Treat symptoms of nocturia in adults.

Minerin Melt dosage

  • The appropriate dose shall be determined by the doctor.

  • Minerin tablets placed under the tongue to dissolve.

  • Central diabetes insipidus dose: between 120 - 720 ug, the right dose to start is 60 ug 3 times per day.

  • Treatment of nocturnal enuresis: Starting from 120 ug before bed, if not enough, it can be increased to 240 ug.

Minerin side effects

Minerin Milt may cause some side effects, such as:

Minerin contraindications

Minerin is not used in the case of:

  • Hyponatremia.

  • Syndrome of inappropriate ADH secretion.

Minerin precautions

  • When using Minerin to treat primary nocturnal enuresis and nocturia, fluid intake should be limited to a minimum of one hour before taking the drug until 8 hours after taking it, to avoid fluid retention and low levels of sodium in the blood.

  • The doctor should be consulted before using the medication Minerin in case of functional bladder dysfunction or a blockage.

  • Care should be taken before administering Minerin to the elderly, especially as they are at high risk of hyponatremia.

  • The drug is used with caution in case of an imbalance of fluids or electrolytes in the body.
