Janumet drug contains:
50 mg sitagliptin: Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 "DPP-4" inhibitor, the enzyme that breaks down incretins, hormones released by the body after meal and stimulates pancreas to release insulin. By increasing their blood levels through the drug, the pancreas is furtherly stimulated to secrete more insulin.
1000 mg of metformin: reduces blood sugar levels by reducing the production of glucose by the liver, increasing muscle sensitivity to insulin, and delaying intestinal glucose absorption.
Janumet is prescribed along with exercise and diet to improve blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes if the drug is suitable for them.
Dosage is preferred based on the patient's needs.
Usual dosage: 2 tablets per day, one in the morning, one in the evening.
Janumet is preferred after meals.
It is not recommended to take more than 2 tablets of Sinemet per day.
