What is Xola medication?

  • Xola is an eye drop, containing the active substance "dorXolamide", a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, so it reduces the production of aqueous humor, and reduces high eye pressure.

Xola eye drop uses

  • Reduce high eye pressure.

  • Treatment of glaucoma (open-angle glaucoma).

  • Pseudoexfoliative glaucoma.

  • Adjunctive treatment with beta blockers helps reduce eye pressure.

  • As monotherapy when beta blockers are contraindicated or patient is unresponsive to it.

Xola eye drop dosage

  • The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye 3 times a day.

  • Dosage may vary with the use of other drops for the glaucoma.

  • Use of a Xola eye drop should be separated from any other eye preparation by 10 minutes.

  • Hands should be washed thoroughly before using the drop and the tip of the container should not come into contact with the eye.

  • Contact lenses must be removed before placing the drop, and can be worn again after 15 minutes.
