Mechanism of action of co aprovel 150/12.5 mg
Irbesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking substances in the body that cause blood vessels to narrow.
This causes irbesartan to relax blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases blood and oxygen flow to the heart.
Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium chloride transport in the distal convoluted tubule. More sodium is then excreted with fluid in the kidneys.
As a result, it increases urine output, which in turn decreases blood volume and ultimately blood pressure.
When used chronically, thiazide diuretics (TZDs)-mediated reductions in chronic arterial pressure are thought to occur through reductions in peripheral vascular resistance.

Therapeutic Indications for Co-Aprovel 150/12.5 Tablets
Treat essential hypertension.
This fixed-dose combination is indicated for adult patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with irbesartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone
High blood pressure is a common condition in which the chronic pressure of blood on the walls of arteries is high enough that it can eventually lead to health problems such as heart disease.
