What is Alphagan B medicine?

Alphagan B contains the active ingredient brimonidine, which is used to treat glaucoma and high blood pressure inside the eyes.

 

Brimonidine acts selectively on Alpha 2 receptors in the blood vessels of the eye. This activity reduces the production of aqueous fluid in the eyeball and improves its outflow, resulting in a decrease in intraocular pressure.

Reduces intraocular pressure by reducing the production of aqueous solution. Reduces intraocular pressure associated with eye surgery or short-term delay laser treatment or surgery for patients with uncontrolled glaucoma. A drop in intraocular pressure begins within an hour of putting in the drops or about 3 to 5 hours after.

What are the side effects of Alphagan B?

Minor side effects may occur such as: burning eye, irritation, itching, redness, blurred vision, itching of the eyelid, eyelid swelling, or sensitivity to light.

 

 

How to use Alphagan B eye drops

To apply eye drops, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eyes or any other surface

 

If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using this medication. After applying this medicine, wait at least 15 minutes before putting in contact lenses

 

Tilt your head back, look up and pull the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and insert one drop, usually three times daily, or as directed by your doctor. Look down and gently close your eyes for one to two minutes. Place one finger in the corner of your eye (near the nose) and apply gentle pressure. Try not to blink or rub your eyes. This will prevent the medication from draining. Repeat these steps for your other eye if directed by your doctor

 

Do not rinse the dropper.

 

If you are using another kind of eye medication (such as drops or ointments), wait at least 5 minutes before applying the other medications. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye

 

It is important to continue this medication even if you do not have any symptoms. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same times every day. Do not stop using this medicine without consulting your doctor
