Xigduo XR 10/500 mg is a medication used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It contains two active ingredients: dapagliflozin 10 mg and metformin hydrochloride extended-release 500 mg. The medication works in conjunction with a healthy diet and physical activity to improve glycemic control and may help reduce the risk of certain complications in appropriate patients, as evaluated by a physician.

What is XIGDUO XR 10 500mg used for?

  • Improves blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

  • Improves the body's response to insulin.

  • Decreases glucose production in the liver.

  • Increases the elimination of excess glucose through urine.

  • May help reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and slow the progression of chronic kidney disease in select patients, as determined by a doctor.

When is the best time to take XIGDUO XR?

  • Use exactly as directed by your doctor.

  • Take usually once daily with food to help reduce stomach upset.

  • Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or divide it, as it is an extended-release formulation.

  • Strictly adhere to the recommended diet and physical activity plan during treatment.

  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

What is the side effects of XIGDUO XR?

Xigduo XR may cause some side effects, the most common being:

  • Nausea or diarrhea
