Trelegy Ellipta inhaler is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema.

What is Trelegy Ellipta?

An inhaler containing the following active ingredients:

  • Fluticasone furoate 200 mcg: An anti-inflammatory corticosteroid.

  • Umeclidinium 62.5 mcg: A long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) that helps dilate the airways by inhibiting the binding of acetylcholine to muscarinic receptors.

  • Vilanterol 25 mcg: A selective long-acting beta2-receptor agonist (LABA) that helps dilate the airways by relaxing the smooth muscles in the bronchial tubes and preventing the release of allergy-causing compounds from certain cells.

What is TRELEGY Ellipta for?

Trelegy Ellipta is used as a maintenance treatment for adults with moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) who have not been well-managed with an inhaler containing a combination of two active ingredients.

TRELEGY Ellipta dose

  • The recommended dose is one inhalation daily, preferably at the same time each day.

  • If a dose is missed, take it the next day at the usual time without doubling the dose.

What are the most common side effects of TRELEGY?

Trelegy inhaler may cause some side effects, such as:

  • Nasopharyngitis.

  • Headache.

  • Upper respiratory tract infection.

  • Cough.

Contraindications

Trelegy Ellipta should not be used in cases of:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of its components.

Warnings and Precautions

You must inform the doctor of any health problems you have before using Trelegy Ellipta, such as:

  • Asthma: It is not intended for the treatment of asthma.

  • The medication is not intended for acute exacerbations of COPD.

  • Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia).

  • Liver impairment.

  • Seizures (convulsions).

  • Thyroid disorders.

  • Diabetes.

  • Occurrence of paradoxical bronchospasm: If shortness of breath and wheezing occur immediately after using the medication, you must stop using it and consult a doctor at once.
