Protopic 0.1% Ointment is a topical treatment containing the active ingredient Tacrolimus at a concentration of 0.1%. It belongs to a class of medications known as topical calcineurin inhibitors (TCIs). It is used to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and adolescents aged 16 years and older, particularly when topical corticosteroid creams are not effective or are not suitable for the patient. Under medical supervision, it can also be used to help prevent the recurrence of eczema flare-ups in certain patients.

How to Use Protopic ointment

Apply a thin layer to the affected areas twice daily, rubbing it in gently until it is evenly distributed on the skin.

Use until the symptoms clear up, then stop as directed by your doctor.

For maintenance therapy, your doctor may recommend applying it twice a week to areas prone to eczema recurrence.

Wash your hands before and after application, unless your hands are the area being treated.

Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings or bandages unless explicitly instructed by your doctor.
