Pk-Merz 100Mg - 100 Tablets is a medication presented as film-coated tablets containing the active ingredient Amantadine Sulfate, a compound that affects the central nervous system. It has dual properties: antiparkinsonian and antiviral. It is used to improve motor symptoms such as rigidity, tremor, and bradykinesia by inhibiting NMDA receptors in the brain.
Indications for Use
PK-Merz is used in the treatment of the following conditions:

Parkinson’s disease and drug-induced extrapyramidal syndrome.

Motor dysfunctions following stereotactic brain surgery.

Post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).

As an adjunct therapy in Hepatitis C with interferon and ribavirin.

As monotherapy for Hepatitis C in patients unable to use ribavirin or who did not respond to interferon therapy.
pk-merz tablet dose
For Parkinson’s disease

Start with 2 tablets daily, gradually increased to 1 tablet 2–3 times per day.

In advanced cases, the dose may reach 5 tablets daily, divided throughout the day.
For drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms

1 tablet twice daily.
For Hepatitis C treatment

Adjunct therapy: 1 tablet twice daily for 6 months with interferon and ribavirin.

Monotherapy: 1 tablet twice daily for 6 months.
Note: Tablets should be taken with a small amount of liquid, preferably in the morning and afternoon to avoid sleep disturbances.

Warnings and Precautions

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to amantadine.

Prostatic hypertrophy.

Narrow-angle glaucoma.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

Amantadine is considered teratogenic and should only be used during pregnancy when absolutely necessary after evaluating risks and benefits.

It passes into breast milk; breastfeeding should be discontinued or the infant monitored for side effects such as rash, vomiting, or urinary retention.
