Permix Lotion 5% is a topical pharmaceutical preparation containing Permethrin at a concentration of 5%. It is used to treat scabies by eliminating scabies mites and their eggs. Permethrin acts on the nervous system of the parasites, leading to their paralysis and death, thereby helping to relieve the itching and skin rash associated with the infection. In certain cases, it may also be used to treat lice according to a physician's recommendations.

What is permethrin 5% lotion used for?

• Scabies Treatment: Treatment of scabies in adults and children aged 2 months and older.

• Mite & Egg Elimination: Eradicates scabies mites and their eggs to help prevent reinfection.

• Lice Treatment: May be used to treat certain types of lice as directed by a healthcare professional.

• Symptom Relief: Helps soothe itching and skin irritation caused by parasitic infections.

How to Use Permix Lotion 5%

• External Use Only.

• Apply to clean, dry skin, covering the entire body from the neck down to the soles of the feet, paying special attention to the spaces between fingers and toes, under the fingernails, and skin folds.

• Infants & Elderly: A doctor may recommend applying the lotion to the scalp, forehead, and behind the ears as well, while strictly avoiding contact with the eyes, mouth, and nose.

• Leave the lotion on the skin for 8 to 14 hours, then wash off thoroughly with water.

• A physician may advise repeating the treatment after 7 to 14 days if the infestation persists or if new signs appear.

• Hygiene Measures: It is recommended to treat all household contacts at the same time, and to wash clothes, bed linens, and towels in hot water followed by thorough drying to prevent reinfection.

Side Effects

Side effects may include:

• Itching, burning sensation, or stinging at the application site.

• Mild redness or skin irritation.

• Dry skin or rash.

• Rare Allergic Reactions: Skin swelling or difficulty breathing; if these occur, discontinue use and seek immediate medical attention.

Note: Post-scabietic itching may persist for 2 to 4 weeks after the successful eradication of scabies mites and does not necessarily indicate treatment failure.

Precautions and Warnings

• Contraindications: Do not use if you are allergic to Permethrin, pyrethrins, or any other ingredients in the product.

• Mucous Membranes: Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, or mucous membranes; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

• Broken Skin: Do not apply to broken, inflamed, or infected skin unless advised by a doctor.

• Infants: Use in infants under 2 months of age only if prescribed by a physician.
