Mycosat 30ML antifungal

Mycosat 30 ml is an oral antifungal suspension containing the active ingredient Nystatin at a concentration of 100,000 IU per ml. It is used for the treatment and prevention of Candida infections affecting the mouth, and it can also be used in certain cases of gastrointestinal candidiasis.

What is the use of Mycosat?

• Helps treat oral fungal infections and oral candidiasis (thrush).

• Contributes to relieving fungal infections affecting the oral mucous membranes.

• Can be used to treat certain cases of gastrointestinal candidiasis.

• Nystatin works by binding to ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane, leading to increased membrane permeability and damage to the fungal cell.

• Nystatin is not significantly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract when taken orally; thus, it acts primarily locally within the mouth and digestive tract.

Mycosat oral suspension 30ml how to use

• Adults and Children: For the treatment of oral candidiasis, the usual dose is 1 ml 4 times daily.

• Apply the dose into the mouth and hold/swish it so it contacts the affected areas for as long as possible before swallowing to ensure optimal local effect.

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Treatment should typically continue for at least 48 hours after signs and symptoms have resolved to help prevent recurrence.

• If symptoms persist, worsen, or fail to improve within 14 days, the condition should be re-evaluated by a healthcare professional.

Precautions and Warnings

• Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to nystatin or any of the product's ingredients.

• Do not use for systemic fungal infections, as oral nystatin is not an appropriate treatment for widespread fungal disease.

• Contains sucrose; exercise caution in individuals with rare hereditary conditions such as fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.

• Contains a small amount of ethanol, as well as methylparaben and propylparaben, which may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.

• Use during pregnancy only after a physician evaluates the need, despite minimal gastrointestinal absorption.

• Consult a physician if symptoms persist or if infections recur frequently.

Side Effects

Mycosat may cause the following side effects in some individuals:

• Nausea.

• Gastrointestinal disturbance or discomfort.

• Diarrhea.

• Localized oral irritation or sensitivity.

• Rarely, allergic reactions to nystatin or inactive ingredients may occur.

Discontinue use and seek medical attention if severe allergic symptoms appear, such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, or difficulty breathing.
