Description

Moxidad Forte 500 mg Capsules is an antibiotic that contains the active ingredient amoxicillin. It belongs to the penicillin class of antibiotics, which are used to treat many types of bacterial infections that are sensitive to the medicine. Amoxicillin works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which weakens the bacteria and helps eliminate them.

Moxidad Forte is used to treat bacterial infections in different areas of the body, such as infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, genitourinary tract, and some dental infections, according to the doctor’s assessment, the type of infection, and its severity.

What is Moxidad Forte 500mg used for?

Moxidad Forte is used to treat a range of bacterial infections that are sensitive to amoxicillin, including:

  • Pharyngitis and bacterial throat infections.

  • Acute otitis media.

  • Acute bacterial sinusitis.

  • Lower respiratory tract infections.

  • Skin and soft tissue infections.

  • Genitourinary tract infections.

  • Dental abscesses and some oral and dental infections.

  • Urethritis or cervicitis caused by chlamydia.

  • Lyme disease in some cases.

  • Salmonella and typhoid fever, as prescribed by the doctor.

  • Acute uncomplicated gonorrhea as part of specific treatment regimens.

  • Prevention of endocarditis before certain dental procedures in high-risk patients.

  • Amoxicillin may also be included in treatment regimens for H. pylori infection, together with other medicines such as clarithromycin or metronidazole, acid-suppressing medicines, or bismuth compounds, as prescribed by the doctor.

Directions for use

  • Moxidad Forte should be used according to the dose and duration prescribed by the doctor. The medicine should not be stopped early, even if symptoms improve, as this may lead to the infection returning or increase bacterial resistance to the antibiotic.

  • The usual adult dose for sensitive infections is often 250 to 500 mg orally every 8 hours, but the dose may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection.

  • In some specific cases, the doctor may prescribe different doses, such as:

    • 3 g as a single dose in some cases of uncomplicated gonorrhea, often with probenecid.

    • 3 g for dental abscesses, with the dose possibly repeated after 8 hours.

    • 3 g for acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections, with the dose possibly repeated after 10 to 12 hours.

    • 2 to 3 g as a single dose one hour before certain dental procedures to prevent endocarditis in specific cases.

    • 3 g twice daily in some acute or recurrent respiratory tract infections.

    • 500 mg three times daily as part of H. pylori treatment regimens with other medicines.

For children

  • The dose is determined according to the child’s weight and health condition.

  • The usual dose may range from 40 to 45 mg/kg/day, divided every 8 to 12 hours.

  • Higher doses may be used in some cases under medical supervision only.

In cases of kidney impairment or dialysis

  • The dose should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance and the doctor’s instructions.

  • Some patients may need an additional dose during or after dialysis sessions.

Note: Moxidad Forte may be taken with or without food, but it is preferable to take it with food to reduce stomach upset and improve tolerance.
