Merional 75 Iu 1 Vial
Merional 75 IU 1 Vial is a hormonal preparation containing menotrophin (human menopausal gonadotropin, HMG). It is used under medical supervision to stimulate the ovaries in women with ovulatory disorders and as part of certain assisted reproductive techniques. It may also be used in men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism to help stimulate sperm production, usually in combination with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).
Ingredients of Merional
Each vial of Merional 75 IU contains menotrophin (Menotropin), a human gonadotropin hormone preparation (HMG), providing 75 IU of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) activity and 75 IU of luteinizing hormone (LH) activity.
Indications for Merional 75 IU
Merional is used under specialist medical supervision for the following conditions:
-
Anovulation in women, including some cases associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) when treatment with clomiphene has been unsuccessful.
-
Stimulation of multiple ovarian follicles as part of assisted reproductive techniques, such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
-
Stimulation of spermatogenesis in men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. In this case, it is used in combination with hCG.
Directions for Use of Merional Injection
The dose and duration of treatment are determined by the physician according to the patient's condition and response to treatment. Treatment requires medical monitoring, particularly in women through ultrasound monitoring of follicular development. Estradiol levels may also be monitored.
-
For anovulation: The usual starting dose is 75–150 IU daily, adjusted according to response. The daily dose generally does not exceed 225 IU.
-
For ovarian stimulation for assisted reproduction: The usual dose is 150–225 IU daily, starting on day 2 or 3 of the menstrual cycle. The dose may be adjusted according to ovarian response and generally does not exceed 450 IU daily.
-
For men: Following treatment with hCG, Merional is administered at a dose of 75 or 150 IU two to three times weekly. Treatment may take several months before an improvement in sperm production is observed, and some patients may require long-term treatment.
-
Merional is administered by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. The powder should be reconstituted with the supplied solvent immediately before use.
