Lowrac capsules contain the active ingredient Amlodipine, which belongs to a class of medicines known as calcium channel blockers. Amlodipine helps relax and widen the blood vessels, which contributes to lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow to the heart.
Lowrac is used under medical supervision to treat high blood pressure and some cases of angina. It may also be included as part of a treatment plan for certain conditions related to the arteries and blood circulation, depending on the doctor’s assessment of the patient’s condition.
What is Lowrac 5mg used for?
Lowrac is used to help treat or control the following conditions:
-
Mild to moderate high blood pressure.
-
High blood pressure in general, either alone or with other medicines as prescribed by the doctor.
-
Chronic stable angina.
-
Vasospastic angina, also known as Prinzmetal’s angina.
-
Coronary artery disease.
-
Raynaud’s disease, a condition that affects blood flow to the extremities.
-
Helping reduce certain risks associated with high blood pressure complications, such as stroke, when used as part of an appropriate treatment plan.
How Lowrac 5 mg works
Amlodipine works by reducing the entry of calcium into the muscles of the blood vessels and the heart muscle. This helps the blood vessels relax, lowers resistance to blood flow, and reduces the workload on the heart. It may also help improve oxygen delivery to the heart muscle in some patients with angina.
