Invega Sustenna 75 mg injection is used for treating schizophrenia. It is administered after oral antipsychotic treatment to continue the therapeutic journey and relieve associated symptoms.
Each Invega Sustenna injection contains 75 mg of paliperidone palmitate, an antipsychotic agent that helps alleviate schizophrenia symptoms by acting on dopamine and serotonin receptors.
Invega Sustenna injections are used to treat schizophrenia in adults who have been previously stabilized on oral paliperidone or risperidone.
Invega Sustenna is for intramuscular injection only.
It should be administered by a healthcare professional.
The initial dose is 150 mg on day one.
The dose is reduced to 100 mg on day eight.
Both initial doses are administered in the deltoid muscle.
The third injection is given one month after the second dose. A maintenance dose of 75 mg monthly is recommended (dose may vary depending on the patient’s condition), and can be administered in the deltoid or gluteal muscle.
Dosage varies based on the previous medication and dosage used by the patient. If the patient was previously on extended-release oral paliperidone, the dosing may be as follows:
