Fycompa 2 mg strip 7 tablets helps with epilepsy as it is containing the active substance "Perampanel", a non-competitive antagonist of (AMPA) glutamate receptors, which can help reduce glutamate activity and relieve seizures.

Fycompa tablets uses

Fycompa 2 mg is used to treat:

  • Partial epilepsy, whether with generalized secondary epilepsy or not, for children aged 4 and over.

  • Adjunctive treatment for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures for those aged 12 or older.

Fycompa 2 mg dosage

  • The dose of the drug Fycompa varies depending on the patient's condition and the type of epileptic seizures.

  • The dosage starts from 2 mg once a day before bedtime.

  • The dose can be increased gradually under the supervision of a doctor.

  • The appropriate maintenance dose for partial epilepsy ranges from 8 - 12 mg (4 - 6 tablets) once a day before bedtime.

  • The maintenance dose for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures is 8 mg (4 tablets) once a day before bedtime.

Fycompa side effects

Fycompa may cause some side effects, such as:

  • dizziness.

  • Sleepiness.

  • fatigue.

  • Nausea.

  • Weight gain.

  • headache.

  • Abdominal pain.

  • anxiety.

Fycompa contraindications

Fycompa is not used in the case of allergies to the drug's ingredients.

Precautions

  • The patient should be closely monitored, especially since the drug may increase suicidal thoughts.

  • The drug may cause some neurological effects, such as sleepiness and dizziness, so the patient should be careful before driving cars or machines with the use of the drug.

  • The drug may increase the risk of falls and injuries.

  • Fycompa should not be stopped suddenly, otherwise, withdrawal symptoms may appear and seizures increase.

Fycompa and pregnancy

Fycompa may harm the fetus during pregnancy, so it is not recommended to take it during pregnancy until consulting a doctor.

Fycompa and lactation

The drug may be transmitted to the infant via breast milk, so the doctor should be consulted before taking the drug during the breastfeeding period.

Drug interactions

The doctor should be consulted before taking Fycompa 2 mg besides any other medication, especially:

  • Contraceptive pills.
