Cardex Ingredients

Each Cardex tablet contains 5 mg of the active ingredient "Bisoprolol Fumarate," which belongs to the class of medications known as beta-blockers.

What is Cardex 5mg used for?

Cardex is used for the treatment of:

  • Hypertension (High blood pressure).

  • Stable chronic heart failure with reduced left ventricular systolic function, in combination with ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and optionally digoxin.

Cardex Dosage

  • The medication should be taken in the morning with food.

  • Starting dose: 5 mg daily.

  • Usual dose: 10 mg daily.

  • Maximum daily dose: 20 mg.

Side Effects of Cardex

  • Dizziness and headache.

  • Bradycardia (Slow heart rate).

  • Coldness or numbness in the extremities.

  • Hypotension (Low blood pressure), especially in patients with heart failure.

  • Nausea and vomiting.

  • Diarrhea.

Contraindications

Do not use Cardex in cases of:

  • Hypersensitivity to its components.

  • Acute heart failure or during episodes of heart failure decompensation requiring i.v. inotropic therapy.

  • Cardiogenic shock.

  • Heart block (certain types).

  • Sick sinus syndrome.

  • Symptomatic bradycardia (slow heart rate causing symptoms).

  • Symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure causing symptoms).

  • Severe asthma or severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

  • Late stages of peripheral arterial occlusive disease or Raynaud's syndrome.

  • Untreated phaeochromocytoma (a type of adrenal gland tumor).

  • Metabolic acidosis.

Drug Interactions

Inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking before using Cardex, especially:

  • Medications for irregular heartbeat (anti-arrhythmics).

  • Other high blood pressure medications.

  • Diabetes medications.

  • Digoxin.

  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

  • Rifampicin.

Storage and Handling

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

  • Do not use the medication after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
