Norditropin is a growth hormone substitute, containing the active substance "somatropin," which is a substitute for natural growth hormone, which helps in the growth of bones, muscles, and body tissue.

Norditropin uses

Norditropin is used in:

  • Treat growth failure in children that may be due to a lack of growth hormone.

  • Small for gestational age (SGA), or intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), the treatment of Norditropin in these cases is not to compensate for the lack of growth hormone, but to promote the child's growth to catch up.

  • Chronic kidney disease.

  • Turner's syndrome.

  • HGH deficiency in adults.

How to use Norditropin?

  • The dose used from Nordetropin varies, depending on the weight and body surface area.

  • Norditropin is injected subcutaneously in the evening 6 or 7 days a week.

  • Injection places should be changed to reduce the risk of subcutaneous fat and tissue damage.

  • The drug should shaken vigorously, but gently handled.

Norditropin side effects

  • Breast enlargement.

  • Swelling of hands and feet as a result of fluid retention.

  • Itching and redness around the injection site.

  • Muscle and joint pain.

Norditropin contraindications

Norditropin is not used in the case of:

  • Allergy to drug ingredients.

  • Cancer.

  • Not finishing cancer treatment.

  • Slow growth for reasons other than HGH deficiency.

  • Conduct a kidney transplant in the last 12 months, or suffer from the body's rejection of the transplanted organ.

Use precautions

The doctor should be consulted before using Norditropin, especially in the case of:

  • Diabetes.

  • Cancer.

  • Impaired kidney function.

  • Signs of increased intracranial pressure, such as severe headaches or vision problems, or nausea and vomiting.

  • Signs of hypothyroidism, such as lethargy and fatigue, weakness, feeling cold, hair loss, and weight gain.

  • Scoliosis.

  • The child suffers from Turner's syndrome, observing that the development of hands or men is not commensurate with height, or an ear infection.

  • The drug may cause pancreatitis, causing severe abdominal pain, in which case the doctor should be consulted immediately.

  • The drug may affect blood sugar levels, so blood sugar levels should be monitored regularly.

Preservation and storage of the drug

  • Keep at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.

  • The drug is not frozen and should not be exposed to heat.

  • While using Norditropin, it can be kept in the refrigerator for 4 weeks at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius, or 3 weeks at room temperature (25 degrees Celsius).

  • Keep out of children's reach.

  • Not used after expiry.
