Travatan Eye Drops

 

What is Travatan Drop?

Travatan is used to treat high eye pressure, containing the active substance "travoprost", a prostaglandin analogue, which helps reduce high eye pressure.

Travatan uses

Travatan eye drop is used to treat:

• High eye pressure.

• Open-angle glaucoma.

Dosage

• The usual dose is a drop in the affected eye once a day.

• It is preferable to receive the dose in the evening for the best effect.

• A Travatan eye drop should not be used more than once a day, otherwise its effect may be impaired.

• Travatan eye drop along with other eye drops can be used to reduce eye pressure under the supervision of a doctor.

• Travatan eye drop is not used for those under the age of 18.

• Contact lenses must be removed before using a Travatan drop, and wait 15 minutes before re-wearing them.

How to use Travatan eye drop?

• Hands should be thoroughly washed with soap and water.

• Shake the bottle well.

• Remove the lid from the bottle.

• Turn the bottle upside down with one hand between your thumb and first finger.

• Tilt the head back with gently pulling the lower eyelid of the eye.

• Place the tip of the bottle near the eye with no contact with the surface of the eye.

• Put one drop into the pocket formed between the eye and eyelid by gently pressing the sides of the bottle.

• Close the eye with no blinking or rubbing the eye.

• Place the index finger on the inner corner of the eye, pressing the nose for about two minutes while closing your eye, this will help prevent the drug from draining through the tear duct to the nose and throat, so as not to absorb in other parts of the body.

• Close the bottle tightly.

• Wash your hands again with soap and water to remove any residue.

Travatan side effects

• Ocular hyperemia.

• Ocular pain.

• Dry eye.

• Itching.

• Hyperpigmentation of iris.

Contraindications

Travatan drop is not used in case of allergy to the active substance.

Warnings and precautions

• Using a Travatan drop may gradually change the color of the eye.

• Travatan eye drop contains propylene glycol, which may irritate the skin.

Travatan and pregnancy

A doctor should be consulted before using a Travatan drop during pregnancy, and only if necessary.

Travatan and lactation

It is not recommended to use a Travatan drop during breastfeeding, as the active substance may be transmitted through the mother's milk.
