Active Ingredient of Prolia

Prolia contains the active ingredient Denosumab, a monoclonal antibody protein. It works by interfering with other proteins involved in bone breakdown, helping to increase bone strength and reduce the risk of fractures.

Prolia 60 mg injection uses

Prolia 60 mg/mL is used to treat:

• Osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men at increased risk of bone fractures, including spine and hip fractures.

• Bone loss due to testosterone deficiency, whether resulting from surgery or hormone therapy for prostate cancer.

• Bone loss caused by long-term corticosteroid therapy in patients at increased risk of fractures.

Prolia 60 mg how to use

• The usual dose is one 60 mg injection every 6 months.

• Administered subcutaneously (under the skin).

• Preferred injection sites: upper thigh or abdomen; the outer upper arm may also be used by a healthcare professional.

• Calcium and vitamin D supplements should be taken during treatment.

• Do not shake the syringe.

Possible side effects include:

• Bone, joint, or muscle pain

• Arm or leg pain

• Pain during urination, frequent urination, or blood in the urine

• Upper respiratory tract infections

• Constipation

Contraindications
