Myfortic 360 mg, 120 Tablets is an immunosuppressant medication used to prevent kidney rejection after transplantation by suppressing the immune response that may lead to organ rejection.

Composition of Myfortic

Myfortic contains the active ingredient mycophenolic acid, an immunosuppressant that helps reduce the body’s immune response.

Myfortic 360 mg uses

Myfortic is used together with other medications such as corticosteroids and cyclosporine to:

  • Prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted kidney.

Myfortic 360 mg dosage

  • May be taken with or without food, but should be taken the same way each day.

  • The recommended dose is 4 tablets per day, taken as 2 tablets in the morning and 2 in the evening.

  • In patients with kidney problems, the total daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets (1440 mg).

Myfortic 360 mg side effects

Myfortic may cause some side effects, including:

  • Decreased white blood cell count.

  • Low calcium levels in the blood.

  • Low potassium levels.

  • Increased uric acid levels.

  • High blood pressure.

  • Anxiety.

  • Diarrhea.

  • Joint pain.

  • Anemia.

  • Low platelet count, which may cause bruising or bleeding.

  • Headache.

  • Dizziness.

Contraindications

Myfortic should not be used in cases of:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of its components.

  • Pregnancy or planning to become pregnant.

  • Not using effective contraception.

  • Breastfeeding.

Warnings and Precautions

Use Myfortic with caution and consult your doctor, especially if you have:

  • Stomach ulcers.

  • Lesch-Nyhan syndrome.

Additional precautions:

  • Myfortic may reduce the skin’s protection from sunlight, increasing the risk of skin cancer; avoid excessive sun exposure during treatment.

  • In patients with hepatitis B or C, the drug may increase the risk of reactivation of the infection.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience persistent cough or shortness of breath.

  • Report any signs of infection, unexplained bruising, or bleeding to your doctor right away.

Drug Interactions

Consult your doctor before using Myfortic with other medications, such as:

  • Other immunosuppressants (e.g., azathioprine, tacrolimus).

  • Cholesterol-lowering drugs.

  • Activated charcoal.

  • Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum.

  • Antiviral drugs such as acyclovir.
