الوصف

Linzess 290 mcg is a medication containing the active ingredient linaclotide. It is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in adults. The drug acts locally in the intestines by activating guanylate cyclase-C receptors, which increases fluid secretion into the intestinal lumen and accelerates intestinal transit. This helps soften stools, facilitate bowel movements, and relieve abdominal pain and discomfort associated with IBS.

Linzess 290 mcg capsule uses

  • Treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation (IBS-C): Indicated for adults.

  • Treatment of Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC): Indicated for adults at appropriate dosages determined by a physician.

  • Improves Stool Parameters: Increases bowel movement frequency and improves stool consistency.

  • Symptom Relief: Helps reduce abdominal pain and bloating associated with IBS-C.

  • Promotes Regularity: Facilitates bowel movement and reduces the sensation of constipation.

How to Use Linzess 290 mcg

  • Standard Dosage: The usual adult dose for IBS-C is 290 mcg once daily.

  • Timing: Best taken on an empty stomach, approximately 30 minutes before the first meal of the day, at the same time every day.

  • Administration: Swallow the capsule whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush or chew.

  • Alternative Administration: If swallowing is difficult, the capsule may be opened and the contents sprinkled onto a small amount of applesauce or mixed with water to be consumed immediately (do not store the mixture). It can also be administered via a nasogastric or gastric feeding tube under medical direction.

  • Missed Dose: Skip the missed dose and resume the regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
