• Standard dose for hypertension: 5 mg daily.

• The effect on blood pressure becomes apparent within 1–2 weeks, reaching full effect within 4 weeks.

• Standard dose for chronic heart failure: The physician starts with 1.25 mg daily, increasing after 1–2 weeks to 2.5 mg daily, then to 5 mg daily, and finally to 10 mg daily until the optimal dose is reached.

• Maximum daily dose: 10 mg.

• It is preferable to take the medication at the same time every day.
