Acarizax Allergy Relief 30 Tabs

Acarizax 12 SQ-HDM is an allergy immunotherapy medication provided as a lyophilisate (freeze-dried tablet) for sublingual administration. It contains a standardized allergen extract from house dust mites, including Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae. The treatment works by increasing the immune system's tolerance to house dust mite allergens, helping to reduce the symptoms of house dust mite–induced allergic rhinitis. It is also used to treat house dust mite–induced allergic asthma in adults based on a physician's clinical assessment.

What is Acarizax used for?

• Helps reduce symptoms of allergic rhinitis caused by house dust mite allergy.

• Functions as an allergen immunotherapy, aiming to increase immune tolerance to allergens rather than merely relieving symptoms.

• Suitable for treating house dust mite–induced allergic asthma in adults following medical evaluation.

• Formulated as a freeze-dried sublingual tablet that dissolves under the tongue without the need for water.

• Noticeable clinical improvement may begin several weeks after initiating treatment; therapy may need to continue for a duration determined by the treating physician.

ACARIZAX dose

• The standard dose is 1 tablet daily, or as prescribed by a physician.

• Ensure hands are completely dry before removing the tablet from the blister pack.

• Carefully remove the tablet from the foil packaging without pushing it through the foil, as the tablet breaks easily.

• Place the tablet directly under the tongue and allow it to dissolve completely.

• Avoid swallowing for approximately 1 minute after placing the tablet under the tongue.

• Do not consume food or drink for 5 minutes following administration.

• The first dose must be administered under medical supervision, with the patient monitored for at least 30 minutes to evaluate any allergic reaction.

• If a dose is missed, it may be taken later the same day; do not take a double dose on the same day.

• If treatment is interrupted for more than 7 days, consult a physician before resuming therapy.

Precautions & Warnings

• Acarizax should be used under the supervision of a physician experienced in the treatment of allergic diseases.

• House dust mite allergy must be confirmed through clinical history and appropriate allergy testing prior to initiating treatment.

• Treatment should not be initiated in patients with severe impairment of lung function or those who have experienced a severe asthma exacerbation within the preceding 3 months.

• Treatment should not be started during an acute respiratory infection in asthmatic patients until the infection has completely resolved.

• Do not use in patients with active or poorly controlled autoimmune diseases, immune deficiencies, those taking immunosuppressive medications, or patients with active malignant diseases.

• Initiation of therapy should be postponed in cases of severe oral inflammation or wounds (e.g., oral ulcers or following oral surgical procedures) until complete healing has occurred.

• Not intended for the treatment of acute asthma attacks; appropriate rescue medication prescribed by a physician must be used during an acute exacerbation.

• Discontinue the medication and seek immediate emergency medical care if experiencing difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, mouth, or throat, voice changes, hypotension, or a sensation of throat fullness.

• Discontinue treatment and consult a physician if severe or persistent heartburn or difficulty swallowing occurs, as this may indicate eosinophilic esophagitis.

• Initiation of therapy is not recommended during pregnancy due to limited clinical experience; consult a physician if pregnancy occurs during treatment.

• Contains a negligible amount of sodium and is considered practically sodium-free.

Acarizax side effects

Many patients experience mild-to-moderate local allergic reactions, particularly during the initial phase of treatment, which typically decrease gradually with continued use.

• Very Common Side Effects:

• Throat irritation

• Swelling of the mouth or lips

• Itching of the mouth or ear

• Nasopharyngitis

• Common Side Effects:

• Prickling sensation, tingling, or numbness of the mouth or tongue

• Itching of the eyes, tongue, or lips

• Swelling of the tongue or throat

• Pain, burning sensation, or inflammation of the mouth

• Mouth ulcers and altered taste perception (dysgeusia)

• Stomach pain, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting

• Cough, shortness of breath, or asthma symptoms

• Dyspepsia and heartburn

• Fatigue, urticaria (hives), and skin itching

• Uncommon Side Effects:

• Less frequently reported symptoms include dry mouth, nasal congestion, dizziness, palpitations, esophageal irritation, or mouth blistering.

• Severe Reactions:

• Severe systemic allergic reactions, including angioedema or eosinophilic esophagitis, may occur in rare cases. Immediate emergency medical attention must be sought if signs of a severe allergic reaction develop, such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face or throat, or a sudden drop in blood pressure.

Drug Interactions

• Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all medications currently being taken, including non-prescription drugs and dietary supplements.

• Notify the physician if using tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors used in the management of Parkinson's disease, as this may influence clinical decision-making regarding treatment suitability.

Storage & Stability

• Store at a temperature below 25°C.

• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

• Store in the original packaging until ready for use.

• Do not use after the expiration date printed on the outer carton and blister foil.
