Prolia 60 Mg-Ml Pre-Filled Syringe 1Pc Refrigerator is administered once every 6 months to treat and prevent bone fractures caused by osteoporosis. It is used for postmenopausal women and men with low testosterone levels that put their bone health at risk.
Prolia contains the active ingredient Denosumab, a monoclonal antibody protein. It works by interfering with other proteins involved in bone breakdown, helping to increase bone strength and reduce the risk of fractures.
Prolia 60 mg/mL is used to treat:
Osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men at increased risk of bone fractures, including spine and hip fractures.
Bone loss due to testosterone deficiency, whether resulting from surgery or hormone therapy for prostate cancer.
Bone loss caused by long-term corticosteroid therapy in patients at increased risk of fractures.
The usual dose is one 60 mg injection every 6 months.
Administered subcutaneously (under the skin).
Preferred injection sites: upper thigh or abdomen; the outer upper arm may also be used by a healthcare professional.
Calcium and vitamin D supplements should be taken during treatment.
Do not shake the syringe.
Possible side effects include:
Bone, joint, or muscle pain
Arm or leg pain
Pain during urination, frequent urination, or blood in the urine
Upper respiratory tract infections
Constipation
Abdominal discomfort
Hair loss
Itching or skin redness
Numbness or tingling in the legs
Do not use Prolia in the following cases:
Hypersensitivity to any of its components
Low calcium levels in the blood
Use in children or adolescents under 18 years old
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Prolia, especially if you:
Have dental or oral problems
Do not receive regular dental care or haven't had a dental exam in a long time
Smoke
Have previously been treated with bisphosphonates (used to prevent bone loss)
Take corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone)
Have cancer
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Keep out of reach of children
Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C
Do not freeze
Do not use after the expiry date
Keep in the original packaging to protect from light
The syringe may be left at room temperature (up to 25°C) before injection, but must be used within 30 days after removal from refrigeration
