Eltroxin 50 is used in cases of hypothyroidism, where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroxine for the body's needs.

Eltroxin 50 Dosage

  • The appropriate dosage of Eltroxin is determined by the doctor.

  • The usual dose is 50–100 micrograms daily.

  • The doctor may increase the dose by 50 micrograms every 3–4 weeks until the normal level of thyroxine is restored.

  • The final daily dose may reach 100–200 micrograms.

  • The usual dose for the elderly is generally lower than for others.

  • Dosage for Congenital Hypothyroidism in Children: 10–15 micrograms per kilogram of body weight daily for the first 3 months, then the dose may be adjusted based on the body's response.

  • Dosage for Acquired Hypothyroidism in Children: Starts at 12.5–50 micrograms daily, and may be increased by the doctor every 2–4 weeks based on the child’s response.
