Irbesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) indicated for:Â
Treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure.
Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.
Treatment of diabetic nephropathy in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes,
an elevated serum creatinine, and proteinuria.

You are taking aliskiren with diabetes.

Increased risk of lithium toxicity when taken together
Increased risk of kidney damage and reduction of its effects when taken with Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and COX-2 inhibitors (like ibuprofen, ketoprofen, celecoxib)
Not recommended use with potassium supplements to avoid an increase of potassium levels in the blood.
How to take Irbesartan:

The usual dose is: 1 tablet daily for both hypertension and diabetic neuropathy
Irbesartan tablet can be taken with or without foodÂ
It can be taken any time of the dayÂ
Do not break the tablet in halfÂ
